• AADIF/MICAP encouraged the establishment of the Michigan Liquor Control Commission.
  • The Office of Substance Abuse Services was planned and recommended by AADIF to the state legislature.  It was adopted in 1974.
  • Restoration of the Minimum Age of 21 for the purchase or consumption of B/A.  AADIF helped Michigan to become the first state in the union to return to 21.  
  • AADIF/MICAP successfully advocated for the 500-foot rule. From the MLCC website. “A request to transfer the location of an SDD license or on-premises license may be denied if the proposed location is within 500 feet of a church or school.” 
  • AADIF/MICAP supported tightening Michigan’s drunk driving laws by lowering the legal blood alcohol limits first from 0.15% to 0.10%, and then from 0.10% to 0.08%. 
  • In 2010, AADIF/MICAP networked with other state and local non-profit organizations to encourage the Michigan Liquor Control Commission (MLCC) to ban the selling of premixed Alcohol Energy Drinks in Michigan. The ban remains in effect.
  • AADIF/MICAP helped prevent legislation which would have absolved licensees from liability for serving patrons who had over-imbibed.
  • AADIF/MICAP has encouraged Michigan Legislators on several occasions to defeat bills which would extend alcohol sales hours from 2 AM to 4 AM. Most recently in 2020.
  • MICAP currently supports that the blood alcohol content limit be lowered from .08% to .05%.
