MICAP (the Michigan Council on Alcohol Problems) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to educating our Michigan community about the risks of alcohol misuse. We do this by:
- Advocating with public policy makers
- Informing and educating the people of Michigan
- Partnering and collaborating with like-missioned organizations
We are proud to share that we have launched the .05 Saves Lives Coalition alongside other dedicated organizations to decrease drunk driving deaths in Michigan by dropping our state’s BAC limit from .08 to .05.
We’ve developed an Issue Brief for you to check out, along with more information about a .05 BAC and further resources. You can click below to get started.
The Issue Brief will open as a PDF in a separate tab.
Education has always been a key component of our work. Historically, we have utilized the following methods to reach out to our Michigan community:
- Publish and distribute our MICAP newsletter. Our newsletters can be viewed in our archive here.
- Contribute to our local and state newspapers. Here is a link to one of our recent op-eds.
- Testify in public hearings regarding alcohol-related legislation. Our Board will provide input at the Michigan Liquor Control Commission’s (MLCC) hearings in support of safer policies about alcohol use.
